The mausoleum of Rukn-i-Alam is the glory of the city of Multan. The tomb was built by the emperor Ghiasud Din Tughlak. The Shrine is well maintained by the joint efforts of the Auqaf and Archaeology Departments, which it received the Agha Khan Award for Architecture in 1983 due to their outstanding efforts. The dome of the mausoleum, built entirely of red bricks, gives a uniquely artistic look. Rukn-i-Alam passed away in 1334 AD.
